Downy serviceberry is very similar to smooth serviceberry with differences often convoluted by hybridization. This serviceberry like others in this genus have fragrant spring flowers, edible fruit in summer and beautiful fall color. Downy serviceberry will tolerate part shade but will have reduced flowers and fruit production.
